Pig Feeder

An indoor pig feeder needs to keep your animals supplied with fresh feed at all times. To put on early weight and provide healthy gains, fresh, clean feed must be available, and the feeding area must be kept as stress-free as possible. The round-trough design maximizes the feeding area so that as many pigs as possible can eat at the same time.

This manageable three-bushel indoor feeder can serve up to 40 pigs from 2 weeks of age, all through 65 pounds of weight. The on-demand mechanical feed flow design only dispenses food when the sweep bar is moved, and it cleans the feeding trough at the same time. Eliminate wasted and spoiled feed with this very efficient Osborne pig feeder from Barn World.

Review

The Osborne three-bushel pig feeder provides fresh feed on demand for growing pigs in nursery operations. The feeders are engineered to improve feed-to-gain ratios while radically reducing waste. The round-trough design provides pigs with a less stressful eating experience and 360-degree access to the feed. The reinforced fiberglass hoppers and troughs have metal parts that are designed to resist rust (the poly trough will never rust) in high-use areas.

For your larger operations and animals, we also have a complete line of hog feeders to review. Please let us know if we can put together a quote with shipping for your review.

Pictures of the feeder with a Fence-line Adapter

The feeder below utilizes a fence-line adapter to feed two separate penned areas from the same feeder. The round trough design with the on-demand-only feed dispenser system still offers the maximum feeding area in a structured, stress-free environment. The operation pictured below has a feed tube going into the top of the feeder to fill when needed. The vertical feeding bars provide a structured station for defined eating areas and help reduce stress between animals when eating.

Pig Feeder Video Review

Here's a great little video looking at the Osborne pig feeders in action, highlighting some of their design features

In today’s facilities, feed generally represents up to 65% of production costs. The Osborne big wheel pig feeders for nursery and finishing have been setting high standards for over 30 years.

The original round-trough leaders give the animals more space to eat and create a feeding environment that promotes consumption. They stand in a 360° spoke-like configuration that allows more mouths in the trough because they’re not standing shoulder to shoulder. This design provides more non-confrontational access and allows more pigs to eat at one time than a traditional rectangular or straight-line feeder.

The mechanical flow design of the feeders keeps fresh feed flowing and stops feeding when it’s not called for. This on-demand system prevents feed from lying in the trough untouched, where it can get kicked or knocked out of the feeder or even sit and rot if it gets wet.

The paddle sweeps on the feeder bar, which helps clean the bottom of the trough as the pigs turn the wheel to call for food.
