Questions

Question:
I have MTI 500 WB weigh bars and digital indicator. I need to replace the cable that goes from the inside of the indicator to the cable. It is the short pigtail coming out of the indicator. Do you sell these separately?
Answer:
Question:
Is the digital indicator included in the $799(33 inches) price? What all comes with it? Power cord, etc..?
Answer:
The Chute Scale Weigh Bar does include the digital indicator and all the components necessary to start weighing right away. Just attach it to your chute or platform and you're ready to go.
Question:
The specs say working conditions are from 14 degrees F to 104 degrees F. The temperature where I live is often below 14 when we weigh cattle. How will this effect the scale or will it just effect the battery life?
Answer:
The temperature limitation (14 degrees F) is based on the lower limit of the display (LCD ? Liquid Crystal Display) to reliably perform in the environment. The liquid in the LCD is where the problem arises. An option might be to build a small box for the indicator/display to provide some measure of shelter. If it is really cold and if you have access to A/C power you might want to build the shelter a bit larger and make room for and include a small incandescent light bulb. The wattage of the bulb would be dependent on the outside ambient temperature and the proximity of the bulb to the housing on the indicator/display. The other problem could arise from the batteries if you are not connected to D/C power. If available I would suggest a lithium battery instead of alkaline as they (lithium) will perform much better at sub-freezing temperatures. Additionally the temperature may affect the performance of the load cells. Accordingly I would encourage you to ensure that the Sense lines are connected if available.
Question:
Can these weigh bars be left attached to the bottom of a squeeze chute indefinitely, or do they need to be stored elsewhere when not use? Will weather and being under a constant load have a degrading effect?
Answer:
The bars are designed to be mounted directly to the bottom of the chute and can be left there. They may be washed down from the top, but it's not recommended that high pressure water be used to clean them. They are very durable built for outdoor use.
Question:
I have cattlemax software you can hook the scales to a computer and it will put the weight with the individual cows records in the program thay do not have the mti500wb listed do you know a way to make it compatible i like your scale and would like to buy it if i can make it work
Answer:
I am semi-familiar with cattlemax software. I believe that it will work but additional research should be done to verify this. Our scale has an RS232 output on it that can be continuously streaming or sent on demand (by push of the print button). Ask Cattlemax if they can accept an RS232 input. If they need more details, ask them to call me at 401.566.4767. Chris
Question:
hi i need a new charger do you sell one
Answer:
We do carry the a/c power adapter, item #AC Power Adapter - MTI500WB for $32.50. It is listed on under the scale itself as a part.
Question:
In the MTI WB 500 manual, chapter 3 is missing. I need this part to calibrate the scale.
Answer:
The manual is available on our product page for the weigh bars. Please copy and paste the following link into your browser to access the manual links: www.barnworld.com/sa/p/MTI500-WB_Livestock_Scale_System.htm If you have any trouble, please let me know and I'll forward a pdf for your reference. Thank you, Robert Moore Sales@BarnWorld.com 720.238.2190
Question:
I need two leveling feet with bottom pad. What would they cost? I have the MTI weigh system
Answer:
The leveling feet with the rubber pads are $15.60 each for the MTI-500WB and have been added as an option to the website.
Question:
I am needing new power cables for my MTI-5000-WB. Do you sell just the cabes?
Answer:
We do sell just the cables for the MTI-500 weigh bars. There are two different cables for the weigh bars. There is the 105" cable which connects the two weigh bars together. It is male on both ends, 5 pin round. It's item number: MTI500WB-SC. The other cable connects the indicator to the weigh bars. It is 200", male on both ends, 5 pin round and is item number: MTI500WB-LC. You may enter the item numbers in the search box, or go to the livestock scales and find them listed under the weigh bars themselves. Shipping is included in the price and if I can help at all, please let me know. Thank you, Robert Moore Sales@BarnWorld.com 720.238.2190
Question:
I have a very heavy for most hydraulic chute with a palpation cage and really need at least 3 load bars (2500 lbs each) under it to support the weight and make sure the chute doesnt flex with a heavy cow. can i purchase the system with 3 load bars or do i need to use a different brand?
Answer:
Hello and thank you for your interest. We don't carry a 3 load bar system as stock, but we could create one for you needs. It would be a permanent solution unlike the portable weigh bars. If that's something you'd be interested in, please forward the weight and dimension of the chute and we'll take a look at designing one for you. Thank you, Robert Moore Sales@BarnWorld.com 720.238.2190
Question:
I have 2 questions. First, how long will the battery last when being constantly used. Secondly, what is the weighing increment?
Answer:
Thank you for your weigh bar inquiry. The weigh bar bar batteries typically last 3 years or more with regular use. There is an auto-shutoff feature that is adjustable so you can determine how frequently the until turns off with no use. That will affect how long the battery will hold it`s charge, but a single charge may last 1-2 years with no use. The weigh bars will measure to the pound. If there`s anything I can help with, please let me know and please note that shipping is included in this spring special price.
Question:
How long does the rechargable battery hold it's charge? Also what is the life of the battery (how many times can it be charged and discharged)? Thanks.
Answer:
The weigh bar batteries typically last 3 years or more with regular use. There is an auto-shutoff feature that is adjustable so you can determine how frequently the until turns off with no use. That will affect how long the battery will hold it's charge, but a single charge may last 1-2 years with no use.
Question:
I have an older model MTI500. the cables do not connect to each other, they connect individualy to theindicator. are the cables the same?
Answer:
If your weigh bars and cables are black, then we can get a replacement set for you. If that`s the case, please let me know. Please order item "MTI500WB- Older Style Cables" listed under the weigh bars on the main product page. Thank you, Rob Sales@BarnWorld.com (720) 238-2190
Question:
What do I need to hook up to my computer? What software do I need to record my data?
Answer:
The digital indicator is equipped with an RS232 serial output signal. There is a terminal strip inside the indicator where you would connect the Rx (receive); Tx (transmit); and Grd (Ground) wires. You have to have a DB9 connection on your computer to connect the other end of the serial cable unless you are very familiar with configuring serial protocol connections. DB9 is a 9 pin serial form factor which is commonly found on desktop computers. It is also found on some laptops but not as common as it once was on laptops (everything is USB now). You can find a USB to DB9 converter and try to convert from DB9 to USB but my experience with converters has been that some will work and some will not.
Question:
Can these bars be bolted in varying spots to an existing crate or would the crate just have to sit on them?
Answer:
There are mounting tabs on each end of the weigh bars for mounting to chutes or platforms. You can see them more clearly through the pdf link on the main product page or by going to the pdf throught this address: http://www.barnworld.com/WB500_Advantage.pdf
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you, Rob Sales@BarnWorld.com (720) 238-2190.
Question:
calibration of the scale
Answer:
While in the setup mode, scroll to F16, then scroll down once using the zero key to enter the zero calibration menu. Make sure there is no weight on the scale and press the zero key to zero out the displayed value. Press the NET/GROSS key to save the zero point value. If you have any trouble, please let me know and I can send a manual to you. Thanks, Rob Sales@BarnWorld.com (720) 238-2190.
Question:
The cables on my unit have become damaged. Do you sell replacement cables?
Answer:
Yes we do. You may view and order them just below the listing for the weigh bars themselves. We have the 105" and 200" cables, but please verify yours will accept cables that are male on both ends and are 5 pin round.
Question:
Is this scale capable of keeping a running total of weight. I am needing these for weighing a solid waste dumpster that is emptied every week? Needing to check daily for waste diversion. Does it zero out every time if shuts off?
Answer:
Capable of keeping a running total? Answer: No Does it zero out when it shuts off? Answer: Yes
Question:
is there anyway to purchase additonal owners manuals. bought the scale last year and put mine away for safe keeping. not to be seen again. Thank-you
Answer:
We can e-mail a copy of the manual. Please send us your e-mail address.
Question:
I have angus cattle and when running them thru the shutte they often jump up and down shaking the shutte sometimes very violently. Will these scales (MTI-500WB) take this kind of abuse? We run around two hundred head thru the shutte every year.
Answer:
yes. we have cattle farmers running 200 cattle per DAY through them. no problem
Question:
can this product be left out in the weather with no maintenance?
Answer:
yes and no. Depends on the severity of the weather and degree of exposure. They are designed to be left outdoors under cattle chutes. Most farmers leave them out year round. We recommend that you bring the display portion indoors when it is not being used for a long period of time. The indicator has a stainless steel enclosure and is water proof (so you can use it in the rain...etc) but the more you protect it the longer it will last. The weigh bars are not designed to be submerged in water. They can get wet and you can wassh them off but if you submerge them and leave them underwater the moisture will eventually get to the electronics. Hope this answers your question.
Question:
Hi I recently bought the MTI-500WB and I need the printer. Do you sell it? If not, can you recommend where and which ones are most compatible with this weigh system. Thank You
Answer:
Yes there is a printer available for use with the weighbars. It is a small serial tape printer that runs on AC power. Model is the MP-20. Cost is $245.00.
Question:
could this be mounted in horse stocks? if not purchasing optional platform, how is scale set up and used?
Answer:
These two bars and indicator are a complete scale package. You can put them underneath whatever you like. The platform is just one option. You can put them underneath a chute, in an alley, or make your own scale deck. In any case, the scale is set-up and used the same way. You simply plug the scale in and you are ready to weigh.
Question:
How heavy is the construction of the platform for theMTI 500 WB system? How thick is the aluminum plate? What comprises the undercarriage of the platform? Is the undercarriage steel or aluminum? Tube material or something else? Thanks. I'm interested in the system.
Answer:
Weighs approximately 70 lb. for 40" and 60 lb. for 33" 1/8th inch thick diamond tread deck plate 2" square Aluminum tubing around the preimeter with 1.5" square tubing as cross bracing. undercarriage is aluminum
Question:
can you just get the rubber feet that screw into the bottom of the weight bars one of mine got bent
Answer:
Yes, you can call and order parts.
Question:
MTI500wb40-- Is there some way to protect the connectors, while the indicator is being stored inside, away from the loadcell bars. We are planning on mounting the load bar to our chute, but not taking the indicator out to the chute, until we need to weight. Will we need to protect the connector will it is unhooked from the indicator. thanks
Answer:
Currently we do not have a protector for the connectors. What others have done is wrapped tape or a cloth over it.
Question:
what is the width of the 40" long weigh bar?
Answer:
The dimensions of the MTI500wb-40 is 40"Lx4"Wx3"H
Question:
Is this scale NTEP certified ?
Answer:
This scale is not NTEP certified. You have to check with your local weights and measures to see if they will certify it.
Question:
My WW chute is 40". Do the wiegh bars go right across the two ends? And if I want a platform later will I need to set it on concrete? Thanks Freddie Edwards
Answer:
Yes the weighbars go across the two ends. No you do not have to set the weighbars on concrete. The feet are leveling feet so you can adjust them if you are on a pasture or similar. I would recommend placing on concrete or wood incase it rains that way the scale does not sink into the ground if it gets soft.
Question:
How does the MTI 500 compare to LB36-4H with a Model TI-300E indicator? Thanks Freddie
Answer:
The difference between the two are how the cables are set up and protected. The MTI500 has one cable going from weighbar to weighbar and the other cable connects from the weighbar to a pigtail. The cables on the MTI500 are quick disconnect cables vs. hardwire cables. We also offer a rodent resistant sheath over the cables. The MTI500 Indicator is a stainless steel digital indicator with motion filtering technology. The MTI500WB is specifically made for weighing in the agricultural business.
Question:
Will the MTI WB500 attach and fit under a WW Beefmaster Chute? I'm going to measure it but I think it's 24 or 26 inches. So what size would I need and will the cost be $995? Thanks Freddie Edwards
Answer:
The MTI500WB has a maxium weighing capacity of 5,000 lbs. If you believe your chute will need a higher capacity we do offer 10,000lbs. However this is another style cattle scale and the price would be different. Please measure your chute and let us know what size you will need. This will help us with quoting you the correct style system for your weighing needs.
Question:
How do you recharge battery do you remove it to charge?
Answer:
The rechargeable battery stays in the readout. Connect the AC adapter that is included and it will recharge the battery for you. For best results, charge the indicator overnight.
Question:
can you change it to kilos, can you ship it to mexico
Answer:
The scale can read in either lbs/kgs. Yes we can ship to mexico, but we will need a city, state, zipcode to get an estimate on freight to your location.
Question:
do you have to weigh on concrete slab or can it be on a thick rubber mat?
Answer:
The scale has leveling feet so you do not have to weigh on concrete. It is preferred. The scale needs to be level in order to give an accurate reading.
Question:
will this scale be accurate on a very slight grade?
Answer:
This scale is 5,000 lb x 1 lb
Question:
If you place the MT1500WB in a cattle alley does the cow have to stop briefly or can it weigh with the cow walking over in motion without stoping?
Answer:
Yes the scale is designed to grab the livestock's weight even while it is moving.
Question:
Is possible to fix the MTI500WB weight bar in the cement with screw and at the squezz tHANK YOU
Answer:
The MTI500WB has leveling feet. You can connect the weighbars directly to the squeeze chute by the mounting tabs.
Question:
Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to ask the shipping weight of this product, MTI500-WB Livestock Scale System Thanks
Answer:
The shipping weight for teh MTI500-WB 40" is 80 lbs. The 33" is 73 lbs.
Question:
do you ship worlwide?
Answer:
Yes, but freight is extra.
Question:
we only need weighbars, already have the indicator. and need to know, the product have CE certificate, decleration of conformity, which is compulsory for importing Turkey.
Answer:
Thank you for your request. The MTI500WB system is only sold as a set. Which includes the digital indicator and we pre-calibrate the system for you at the factory. We do however offer other types of livestock scales where you could get just the weighbars. The system is not NTEP approved or legal for trade. It is an economical scale and we can ship to other countries using a pro-forma invoice for the shipment. Please let us know if you would like a quotation on another style load bar system so that we may satisfy your weighing needs.
Question:
Do you sell a replacement 25' wiring harness for the MTI-500-WB? Or can you send me a wiring schematic to wire the end back on mine. I jerked the end off and can't tell what wire goes back on what pin. Before I jerked the end off my scales I was having a problem with the scales being acurate. When I stand on ether end it is accurate but when I stand in the middle it drops around 20 to 30 pounds. I looked under the platform to make sure nothing was touching the middle, that's when I jerked the cord out.
Answer:
Yes we sell the Long Cable and Short Cable for the MTI500WB. But before you purchase the part, I would like to have you speak with our technical department because we are not sure if you pulled the wire out of the actual load cell that is inside the bars. Also when the scale is not weighing properly a few things may have occured. The first step is to check all the connections to make sure a cable did not get pinched. The second step recalibration. Please contact our technical department for further information at:888.684.9344
Question:
Does this scale come with power adapter & everything I need to start weighting? How quick can I get it to Fremont,NC 27830? Mine is broken at my hog farm & I have pigs going out 6/21/07. Thanks Tom Sauls (919) 738-8641 cell
Answer:
Tom, Yes, this scale comes with a power adapter as well as a rechargeable battery. We can ship it tomorrow if you order it today. You will recieve it in 3-4 working days via UPS ground unless you want to pay for 2 day delivery. Just let us know when you place your order. Susan
Question:
Is the unit waterproof where you can wash down animals while on the platform or will the load bars have to be removed?
Answer:
Yes you can wash down your animals while on the platform. The load bars are made of steel. The load cells that do the actual weighing are inside the load bars. If you keep the weighbars under the platform while you are washing, try not to spray directly onto the bars.
Question:
I live in Yerington, Nevada. I would need this scale for our local 4-H livestock group. I would like to have this scale up and running no later than april 25. would this be possible to get it shipped that quickly?
Answer:
Yes, we have them in stock ready to ship via UPS Ground. It would take 4-5 business days from the receipt of order.
Question:
I have a Prefiert chute. Is there any mounting brackets, or do you bolt to the bottom of chute.
Answer:
The weighbars have mounting brackets on them so you can bolt the chute to the weighbars if you would like to.
Question:
I was inquiring about the installing of the load bars do they have to be perfectly level and if so do they adjust to accomodate?
Answer:
The weighbars have leveling feet on them, so you don't have to have them on a level surface. It is always a good idea to put on a level surface like wood or concrete incase of rain so they will not sink into the ground.
Question:
Are you located near central Texas?what brand is it?Is it durable?
Answer:
Thank you for your question. The scale manufacturer is located in N. Kingstown, RI. The scale is an MTI Weigh Systems brand. Yes it is durable. The indicator is stainless steel and the the bars are steel. Most of the manufacturers use the same load cells for the livestock scaled and bars are typically made out of steel. The only difference in this system is the digital indicator. The cable has a sheath on it to protect it from livestock and rodent chewing. This is an economical scale system for the economical worker.
Question:
Is this scale NETP approved? Can it be certified by weights and measures.
Answer:
This scale is not NTEP approved. If you need it certified by weights and measures ask your local agency if they will accept it. In most cases you will need an NTEP approved scale. We do offer NTEP scales. Find out exactly what your weights and measures will approve and Barn World will quote you on it. Thank you.
