TempShield® Brand Single Bubble/Double Foil reflective insulation has one layer of 1/8" barrier bubble film laminated between two layers of metalized film. It may be used as a wrap for hot water heaters, pipes, metal, and commercial buildings, stud walls, roofing systems, basements, and crawl spaces. It's also a great vapor retardant that can be stapled, glued, or taped if necessary, depending on the installation involved. TempShield is used as insulation against radiant heat transfer and can be used to its greatest advantage in instances where radiation is the predominant means of heat transfer. It is the bright aluminum film surface that gives it its insulating properties. This happens in two ways: It's an excellent reflector of all long wave radiant heat that strikes it - reflecting up to 95% of all radiant heat. It will re-radiate only 5% of heat in which it comes in close physical contact, compared with the approximate 90% re-radiation of ordinary building materials, at the same temperature.
