Hog Feeder Review

The Osborne RO85 Big Wheel Bulk Feeder provides fresh feed on demand for growing pigs in outdoor lots or hoop building production. This feeder is engineered to improve feed-to-gain ratios while radically reducing waste. The round trough provides pigs with a less stressful eating experience and 360 access to feed. Plugging is not a problem, even after heavy rains, because the self-cleaning action of the feeder always keeps the feed flowing. Big Wheel Feeders are manufactured with Osborne-engineered, reinforced RTM-Glas fiberglass hoppers and troughs, and all lower metal parts are hot-dipped galvanized to help slow corrosion. Expansion rings, lids, and ladders are also galvanized.

This is an extremely big feeder with a 105-bushel capacity for up to 90 full-grown hogs. The large 55 ½ inch diameter trough is intentionally round to maximize the feeding area while also minimizing the competitive eating stress that can be induced by rectangular feeders. The less competition for a spot at the trough, the lower the stress level and the greater the consumption! Standing approximately 9 ½ feet tall, this large outdoor hog feeder can be moved around with the optional galvanized steel skids and the included stepladder allows you to step up on the feeder for convenience. Make sure you have an industry leader that provides consistent and reliable feeding in a heavy-duty design for your large operation today.

Hog Feeder Skids for moving around the pasture

The optional skids are galvanized to help prevent rusting in wet outdoor conditions and allow you to move your large feeder to where it's needed. It also offers a large footprint for extra stability and strength while providing a flat surface on uneven ground.  Not your traditional parallel skids, the H-shape offers increased strength and durability for your feeding pasture site and can make moving the feeder a whole lot easier!

Appreciating Osborne Hog Feeders

This is a fictional story of how a large-scale swine farmer benefits from the extra-large capacity hog feeder daily and can be realized by any producer:

As the sun began its ascent over the sprawling fields of the farm, John, a seasoned swine farmer, made his way to the heart of his operation, where his pride and joy—his pigs—awaited their morning meal. With a sense of pride and satisfaction, he gazed upon the four massive Osborne hog feeders standing tall in the feeding area, each capable of holding an impressive 105 bushels of feed.

For years, these hog feeders had been an integral part of John's operation, revolutionizing the way he managed his large-scale swine farm. With their immense capacity and innovative design, they significantly reduced the labor involved in feeding his pigs, allowing him to allocate his time and resources more efficiently.

But it wasn't just the reduced feeding labor that John appreciated about these feeders. The number of animals that could feed at once was truly remarkable. The spacious troughs accommodated a large group of pigs simultaneously, minimizing competition and ensuring that every pig had equal access to nourishment.

One of the most impressive features of the Osborne hog feeders was their self-cleaning mechanism. As the pigs turned the paddles in the large feed trough, they not only triggered the release of feed but also swept away any residue or debris, keeping the feeding area clean and hygienic at all times. This not only reduced the risk of disease transmission among the pigs but also saved John valuable time and effort in cleaning and maintenance.

As John surveyed his farm, he couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the Osborne hog feeders and the role they played in the overall profitability of his operation. Their efficiency, capacity, and self-cleaning features had not only streamlined his feeding process but had also contributed to healthier, happier pigs and ultimately, increased profitability for his farm.

With a smile on his face, John knew that as long as he had his trusty Osborne hog feeders by his side, his swine farm would continue to thrive for years to come.
