Cattle Oiler Features

This cattle oiler is a heavy-duty economical pest control applicator and excess hair remover. It comes with a pressure-sensitive control valve which only dispenses when the brush is being used. It shuts completely off when not active so there isn't any dripping or waste.

The durable brushes effectively remove excess hair from the coat and can also help remove pests themselves. The top poly tank allows you to see the remaining fluid level with a glance.

For an even stronger brush, steel tanks, or just cattle brushes, please see our full cattle oiler selection or give us a call or email and we'll be happy to help pick one out for your operation.

Cattle Oiler with a plastic tank

This livestock oiler design has a tank to hold your pesticides for a gravity feed delivery to the top brush below. The plastic tank allows you to see how much fluid is left in the spring-loaded top brush and is designed to take maximum abuse from your large cattle. The adjustable flow control valve allows you to set how much pesticide you'd like released when the top brush is agitated. When not in use, the valve closes to prevent any leakage and waste of your pest control liquids.

Reasons to Use a Cattle Oiler

A cattle oiler can be a valuable tool for ranchers looking to enhance the health and well-being of their herd. Here are several reasons why a rancher should consider using a cattle oiler:

  1. Effective Pest Control: Cattle oilers are designed to apply insecticide or insect repellent to the coat of the cattle as they pass by or rub against the device. This helps in controlling and preventing external parasites such as flies, ticks, lice, and other biting insects. By reducing the presence of these pests, cattle can experience less stress and discomfort.
  2. Convenience and Labor Savings: This unit offers a labor-free method of applying pest control solutions. Ranchers can avoid the time-consuming task of manually applying insecticides or treatments to each animal. The oiler provides continuous and automated pest control, allowing ranchers to focus on other aspects of herd management.
  3. Year-Round Protection: Projection is applied and effective year-round, giving constant protection against pests regardless of the season or time of year. This is particularly important in regions where pest infestations can vary throughout the year. Continuous protection helps maintain the health of the herd and prevents the negative impacts associated with pest-related stress.
  4. Tailored Application: These oilers allow for controlled and measured application of insecticides. Ranchers can choose specific products based on the needs of their herd and the prevalent pests in their region. This targeted approach helps in optimizing the effectiveness of pest control measures.
  5. Encourages Cattle Grooming: The brushes mounted on the oiler provide self-grooming and cleaner coats for the animals. Cattle ove to scatch against the brushes which relieves itches, removes pests, and facilitates the distribution of the insecticide.
  6. Reduced Economic Losses: External parasites can have health and thus economic consequences for ranchers, leading to reduced weight gain, lower milk production, and potential disease transmission. Using a cattle oiler helps minimize these losses by mitigating the negative effects of pest infestations on the overall health and productivity of the herd.
  7. Long-Term Investment: While there is an initial cost associated with purchasing and installing, the addition of this self-grooming pesticide-applying apparatus can be viewed as a long-term investment in the health and productivity of the herd. The benefits of reduced pest-related stress, improved grooming, and enhanced overall well-being can contribute to a more profitable and sustainable ranching operation.

How to install and use your cattle oiler

Livestock oilers are designed to remove excess hair and allow livestock to 'self-apply' pesticides and help control and protect them from discomfort and disease. When mounting to a wall, make sure it's installed at a height that allows the top brush to be just below the height of your cattle's back. It will allow them to put upward pressure and get the best leverage and benefit from the brush. Below is a diagram with recommended installation instructions as well as some feature details.
