I have an apollo 1500 gate opener installed now and would like to know if it is possible to upgrade the 1500 to have soft-start/stop. It is installed on a 12 ft alum. gate. Thanks, Randall

I have an Apollo gate opener now installed but need a new power operator without the control box can you provide that? This gate is on a gated community. We counted the number of open/close operations at 55 can this unit handle this? Is there a better arm for this application?

Yes, it would be no problem.

Is 16' the top end of this product and create more wear and tear? Would we be better off going with two 8' gates and openers?
 Answer:
I have installed many of these units on 16' ornamental gates. They have no problem with them. I have even installed them on 18' gates. We have been selling this brand for about 18 years now. This is probably the best gate operator that is on the market. I would advise though for gates 14' and longer to use the Model 1550 gate operator. It has a soft start and soft stop function that will really save the life of the post that the gate hangs on.

Do I need a charge controller between the solar panel and the battery?I heard that will stop the solar panel from draining the battery at night.
 Answer:
You will not have any problem with that. The solar panel does not discharge the battery at night. It has a built in diode that prevents that from happening. Power can not run the opposite way.

What kind of battery does the 1500 use?
 Answer:
It uses a deep cycle marine battery.

Will this model work with a keypad and a remote? What would be the turn key price on two openers, 4 remotes and one keypad?
 Answer:
If you went with 2-1500 and 1-Key Pad Item #42001 the cost would be $2,079 Each gate opener comes with 2 remotes. Thanks David
