With this lid, will the feeder be completely water tight for use outdoors?

Answer:

The lid on the RF3 feeder fits snugly on the hopper top and will help prevent rain or snow from getting into the hopper. The lid comes with a spring to help secure the lid in place. However, if the feeder is placed in a location that is subject to very windy conditions it may be possible for moisture to find a way in. We recommend placing the feeder outdoors in a location that is blocked from high winds to decrease the chance of rain entering the hopper in extreme weather conditions.
