Description
This is the Super Duty, Upright Mineral Feeder from Tarter. It’s a great heavy-duty product that is available with the optional Face Fly Control attachment kit for controlling those disease-carrying pests that create feed-interrupting stress.
If you’ve got cattle, you need a mineral feeder. This large-capacity product has an extremely wide 48” base and is virtually tip-proof, so it won’t lose your precious supplements by falling over. The base itself is made from a 2-inch, powder-coated steel frame and allows for balanced rotation when the hood turns.
The poly hood turns 360° ON SEALED BEARINGS to protect your feed from the elements like wind, rain, and snow, no matter which direction it’s coming from. The hood is designed to fit the optional face fly control for pest control. It consists of a tank, canvas cover, and mop section for dispensing your insecticide product right where it’s needed, on the face of your cattle. The filling is done through the top screw cap, so you can simply fill it and leave it. Your liquid pest control product will slowly seep out of the small holes in the bottom of the tank and onto the mop below. When your cow goes to get the minerals, the mop will come in contact with their face and provide the protection they need.
It’s important to keep your mineral feeder full at all times and provide a constant supply. If feeding is sporadic or rationed, your livestock will fill up on it as quickly as possible, overeating it, and they won’t receive the consistent and level nutrients they need. Having it available at all times provides the biggest bang for your buck. This feeder, when coupled with the optional face fly control kit, accomplishes two tasks at once: supplying nutritional supplements and protecting your animals from face flies.

Proven Performance: Super-Duty Mineral Feeder Customer Video Review
After years of daily use in demanding ranch conditions, Tony’s Super-Duty Mineral Feeder continues to perform reliably. While the feeder shows normal signs of age, it remains his preferred choice thanks to its durability, consistent function, and ease of use for cattle.
Tony selected the feeder specifically for its heavy-duty construction, knowing he needed a mineral feeder capable of standing up to constant use and harsh weather. Over time, it has held up extremely well without mechanical issues. The spinner still turns smoothly, cattle access the mineral easily, and consumption remains consistent with minimal waste.
Although there was initial concern that the feeder might feel too enclosed, the cattle adapted immediately. They walk right up, lick the mineral comfortably, and keep intake steady. This design helps ensure minerals are being eaten rather than wasted on the ground.
One of the standout advantages of the Tarter Super-Duty Mineral Feeder is its versatility. Optional accessories, such as the face fly control kit, can be installed directly into the hood. This added feature helps reduce pests while supporting overall herd comfort and health, increasing the long-term value of the feeder.
Even during extreme weather conditions—including heavy snowfall, high winds, and freezing temperatures—the feeder performed without issue. There were no concerns about tipping, cracking, or moisture intrusion. The mineral stayed dry, the feeder continued spinning properly, and cattle used it exactly as intended.
For producers looking for a durable, weather-resistant, and long-lasting mineral feeder, the Super-Duty Mineral Feeder has proven itself season after season as a dependable solution for effective cattle mineral supplementation.

Face Fly Control Tank and Mop Videos
Here's a quick video on the optional face fly control kit for your cattle that illustrates the benefits of using it with your mineral feeder:
Video review of the Face Fly Control Tank and Mop from Tarter
The health of your herd is important and fly control is a large part of it. Tarter has a solution called the face fly attachment kit for the upright mineral feeder. A good mineral program is definitely important to anyone's herd and if you're feeding a medicated mineral for flies, that's great, you're one step ahead, but something that gets you even further down the road is going to be that face fly attachment kit. This attachment kit is going to mount on the top half of your super-duty mineral feeder so each time your cattle come in to consume that mineral, the face fly attachment kit has a well inside of it. There are small little holes throughout the bottom, then what goes on the top part of that is a heavy canvas that mimics a mop on the lower portion. When you fill the well, or tank with your fly control product, it's going to wick out into the fly face attachment and every time your cattle come to get that mineral, it's going to wipe that product across their face and keep your flies under control. Anytime that you can keep the flies off your cows, they're going to spend more time grazing instead of spending time hiding away in the shade or suffering the stress of those pesky insects. Fly control is really important to the herd. It can affect the health of animals if not done properly so make sure to make your livestock's health a priority in your operation with a face fly attachment kit.
Installing the face fly attachment kit is extremely fast and easy! The video shows just how quick:
Today we have a super-duty mineral feeder and a face fly attachment kit and we're going to show you how to install it and we're going to time it. With the kit, you're going to have a long rod. You'll start on one side and place the rod through the hole and then on the opposite side, line it up and place it through the hole as well. The kit comes with two small pins that go through the rod and hold it in place. Once both are in place, the kit is held firmly above the feeder tray and is ready to be filled with a pest control product. The tank has a lid on one side that you simply unscrew and pour your chemical inside to be dispensed. Sometimes, if you think the product isn't coming out as quickly as you think it should, you can check that the holes are free and clear of any impediments that may cause a slowing of the liquid being dispensed from the tank. You can remove the skirt, take a wool or wire brush, and rub gently across the bottom of the tank to dislodge and clean any unwanted buildup that may be slowing the product. Slide your skit and mop back on and you're ready for business. Once you're done using it for the season, be sure to keep minerals in it. At the end of the season, go ahead and wash the mop to keep it clean for use the next year.
