| The Q&A on this Product |
|
|
| QUESTION: How long will the 2 D-cell batteries last? |
| ANSWER: 4 TO 6 WEEKS, DEPENDS ON GROUNDING AND IF ANYTHING IS TOUCHING THE FENCE. |
|
| QUESTION: Can this charger sit on a portable fencing post? And does it need a ground rod? |
| ANSWER: Yes, the fencer is designed especially for temporary and portable situations. It is actually designed to hang on the fence itself, but you can attatch it to a post by tying it. It is desinged to be exposed to weather, if that is part of your question. It does need a ground rod. select one 2 to 3 feet in length, preferrably one that has a 't' welded to the top so you can easily pull it up from the ground. The ground rod is what collects the voltage put out by the charger to contain the animals. When the animal touches the fence, the voltage goes through him, through the earth and to the ground rod, that's when the animal feels the shock. |
|
| QUESTION: 1) What kind of voltage or shock is produced by this fencer? Sufficent to 'train' a horse?
2) What type or size of fence wire is needed to deliver electricity for this fencer? |
| ANSWER: The HP-B2D is powered by 2 D-cell batteries it powers 1 mile of wire (absolute perfect condidtions) or 1/4 acre of 2 sprand polytape. at 10,000 volts open line - 670 volts @500 ohms (the catalog states 1/2 acre of 4 strand) I'd say if the horse gets his nose snapped, it'll teach him to respect it. It depends on the animal and what your expectations are.
Any fenceing polytape, smooth wire or twisted poly wire or rope will work.
I hope this helps.
