| QUESTION: i plan to span a 3 foot small ditch and put a footer on both sides of the cattle guard to bear loads. what is the load bearing capacity spanning this ditch. i may take a concrete truck across it at some time or another |
| ANSWER: With all of the beams on the ground the cattle guard will not have any problem handling the weight of any road legal vehicle. I do not think that it will have a problem with the 3' gap. I would recommend your footers to be poured extremly well. I think that the footers will collapse before the cattle guard. I do not have an axle to weight rating for the gaurd. I have never had an issue with the cattle guards that we buil collapsing, and we have sold several thousand of them. You will not be dissapointed with the construction of our cattle guards. I hope that I have been helpful in answering your question. If you need anything else just let me no. |

| QUESTION: Do you have some pointers on pouring the concrete hole for this?
|
| ANSWER: The best thing to do on pouring your inground box
for it is to wait until the cattle guard arrives. A good cocrete person should
not have any problems with this job. I would make sure that if you pour the
box all the way around the cattle guard to be sure and leave a way for water
to drain out of it. |
