The Q&A on this Product QUESTION:  i have longhorn cattle and highlander cattle do these come with wider spacing on the bars? ANSWER:  I'm sorry, but the spacing is fixed. We do carry a round bale feeder that has been modified for longhorn cattle which is called the modified RBF-H. You can see it by scrolling down the hay feeders to the letter H, for Horse Round Bale Feeder. It's listed as RBF-H Modified. The feeder is used for longhorn by welding sheet metal across the insides of the uprights to prevent the horns from hooking the feeder. QUESTION:  What about horses using this. Is there any concern with them getting their head in the bars and accidently breaking a neck? As you know horses naturally lift their heads instead of pulling out. ANSWER:  This panel was designed or feeding cattle. It is only 4'-2" tall, therefore most horsed would try and eat by reaching over the top. I would recomend our horse hay feeder SH83HF or the O'Neill upright bale horse feeder on skids.
