Hog Feeder Dispenser Design

The hog feeder designers at Osborne have created a very efficient pig feeder to minimize feed loss. They have even trademarked the 'no waste' mechanical-flow design as it is the most efficient in the industry! As shown in the design diagram, your animals are required to sweep the multiple-paddle feed wheel inside the feeding trough. This, in turn, releases the feed and cleans the trough at the same time! Feed automatically stops flowing when the pigs aren't moving the wheel to eliminate waste while providing a free-flow feeding environment for the hogs. This wonderful design is available in a variety of sizes and will maximize your animal's gains while eliminating feed loss.

Hog Feeder Description

This 45-bushel capacity feeder provides fresh feed only on demand to hogs almost anywhere. It can be used indoors or outdoors and has the option for two different lid designs depending on your needs. They are either galvanized steel or fiberglass-reinforced composite with a hatch door

It is engineered with patented mechanical-flow feed delivery, which puts the animals in control of feed flow, significantly improving feed-to-weight-gain ratios and virtually eliminating waste. The original Osborne design ensures a stress-free eating experience with a round, self-cleaning trough that offers 360-degree access to food.

Designed to withstand various conditions, the Big Wheel Feeders feature abrasion-resistant, reinforced fiberglass hoppers and troughs, along with hot-dipped galvanized steel metal parts. Even after heavy rains, the self-cleaning action of the feeder keeps the feed flowing, preventing plugging issues. The durability of this feeder ensures a long and useful life, while its easy-to-clean design adds to its practicality.

It is delivered unassembled on a pallet to minimize delivery costs and comes with comprehensive assembly and operating instructions.

Experience the following features and benefits:

  • Fresh feed is always available
  • A self-cleaning round trough with no corners for feed accumulation
  • Durable and rugged design for an extended useful life
  • Easy to clean
  • Mechanical feed flow that reduces waste compared to gravity flow feeders
  • Increase your feed conversion rate with the Osborne RO45-Series Big Wheel Bulk Finishing Feeder

Hog Feeder Skids

These heavy-duty skids allow you to drag the feeder to where it’s needed without harming the bottom poly. The skids have built-in loops that may connect to the feeder and move easily from place to place.

Osborne Pig Feeder Video

Hog Feeder Video Highlights

In modern agricultural settings, the cost of feed constitutes a significant portion, often reaching up to 65% of overall production expenses. Osborne's innovative Big Wheel Feeders, designed for nursery, wean-to-finish, and finishing stages in pig farming, have consistently set industry benchmarks for almost three decades. The distinctive circular feeder design ensures that pigs enjoy unrestricted 360° access to both the feeder and a continuous supply of fresh feed.

The unique circular design evenly distributes pigs around the feeder, creating a less stressful dining environment. The mechanical ingenuity of the feeder is focused on maintaining a constant flow of fresh feed. Notably, feed is only dispensed when the pigs engage with the feed wheel, ensuring an efficient and waste-free feeding process. Importantly, the feeder ceases to dispense feed when the pigs conclude their eating, contributing to optimal feed management and minimizing unnecessary consumption.

Osborne's Big Wheel Feeders stand as a testament to quality, efficiency, and the welfare of the swine throughout their feeding cycle.

There isn't a way to completely shut off the feed when there is feed still in the feeder. If the cone is lowered down, it will cut down on the amount of feed released to the trough. The cone can be lowered while spinning the wheel by hand to let feed out so the cone can be lowered to its lowest position. Hope this helps!
